I have a self-referring, private clinical practice in Huddersfield. Alongside my practice, I work and have been working in educational establishments with adolescents experiencing emotional and behavioural difficulties since 1992.
In my private practice I work with children (under 18 years with parental permission) and adults on a wide range of issues from school/work and family expectations and commitments to depression, self harming and panic attacks.
Within education, my role is supportive and involves helping the pupils to solve their problems either on an individual basis or working within small groups. Individual work varies considerably, whilst group work focuses on ‘tailor made’ courses such as; Building Self Esteem and Confidence, Assertiveness, Building and Maintaining Relationships, Managing Feelings and Anger Management.
I also advise school management, mentors, teaching and non-teaching staff on understanding behaviour and how to communicate more effectively with pupils. This is done either on an informal or formal basis, as and when required or whilst delivering a training programme for a small group of staff.
